"So tell me, how would you define life?"

"Why are you asking such a random question?"

"Well, I'm doing a survey about how people look at life."

"What for?"

"It's a class project. Just answer me."

"Life…well, life is…I don't really know. What do you think?"

"You can't just avoid my question!"

"I'm not. Tell me your definition of life, and I will tell you mine."

"Fine. I think that life is a battlefield."

"Why?"

"Well, you constantly need to fight to survive. You need to be strong, or you will be defeated. You need to be brave, or you will be forgotten. You need to be wise, otherwise you will lose everything. You can't win every battle, but you can't give up. In life there is always someone to fight with, something worth fighting for, and someone to count on when everything else seems lost."

"I think that fits quite well."

"I know it does. Now, tell me how would you define life?"

"The only thing I can say is that life is life. There is nothing as painful and depressing. There is nothing that will make you suffer more. There is nothing as precious and as beautiful. And there is nothing as magical and unique as life. The only thing that would make it better is if you have someone special to share it with."
